Superintendent's Message
August 2024
At Lynwood Unified, we empower scholars to Unlock Brilliance and fearlessly achieve their college and career aspirations! As we embark on a new academic year, we are excited to build the foundation for a brighter future, supporting the educational journeys of nearly 14,000 students across our 12 elementary schools, two middle schools, three high schools, a preschool program, an adult school, and an independent study program.
Our dedicated educators work closely with families to provide personalized attention, ensuring every student’s ongoing success. We offer a wealth of resources, including counselors, mental health professionals, and a diverse curriculum that fosters an inclusive school culture, promoting equity, access, and justice for all students.
Lynwood students can explore innovative science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) programs, participate in award-winning athletics, and foster their creativity through the arts. We also offer career technical education (CTE) pathways in subjects such as e-sports, biomedical sciences, engineering, and performing arts in middle school and high school. Our graduates attend top universities like Stanford, Yale, UCLA, UC Berkeley, and several HBCUs.
We are particularly proud of our recent graduates from Lynwood High School’s dual enrollment program, who earned their high school displays and an Associate degree from Compton College in June 2024. This program, also available at Firebaugh High School, allows students to earn free college credits while still in high school. This year, we plan to expand our partnership to include Cal State Dominguez Hills.
As we enter our second year as a Community Schools District, we are committed to having a dedicated team of experts at every school, collaborating with families, teachers, and community agencies to enhance student outcomes. We are also equipping our District, students, and teachers with the knowledge and tools to effectively leverage Artificial Intelligence.
Thank you for being part of our community, where everyone is valued and empowered to reach their full potential.
Sincerely,
Gudiel R. Crosthwaite, Ph.D.
