Helen Keller Elementary Celebrates Women’s History Month with Inspiring Girls’ Conference

Helen Keller Elementary recently hosted a Girls’ Conference in honor of Women’s History Month, bringing together fifth- and sixth-grade girls for a day of inspiration and empowerment. Students engaged with motivational speakers, participated in hands-on activities and celebrated their potential as future leaders.

The Girls’ Conference featured inspiring speakers who encouraged students to pursue their dreams, take advantage of higher education and envision bright futures for themselves.

Xareni García, a 22-year-old dental student from Mexico, shared her perspective on the value of education. Meryland Gonzalez, a Lynwood resident and professional boxer, and Angelina Avila, a motivational partner from the nonprofit Divine Hustles, then spoke about perseverance, ambition and giving back to the community.

Students also took part in an interactive vision board activity, using inspiring words and images to map out their future aspirations. The day concluded with prizes and continued engagement with the speakers, Helen Keller staff and parent volunteers.

Lynwood Unified is dedicated to providing empowering opportunities for female students, equipping them with experiences that inspire learning, growth and confidence as they pursue their dreams of becoming professionals. Events like these reflect the District’s commitment to equity, fostering leadership, resilience and success for all students, regardless of gender.
