On January 27, students from Lynwood, Firebaugh, and Vista high schools had the opportunity to meet with over 20 Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) through the HBCU Caravan, earning over $2.5 million in scholarships and on-the-spot acceptances.
The event – held in partnership with the National College Resources Foundation (NCRF) – connected directly with college representatives from top institutions such as Alcorn State University, Texas Southern University, and Hampton University, learned about various academic programs and secured financial support for their higher education aspirations.
Following the Caravan, students also attended the Black College Expo on February 1, also hosted by NCRF. Over 70 colleges and universities were represented at the annual expo. Students enjoyed meeting with college representatives, earning additional scholarships and receiving further on-the-spot acceptances, continuing the momentum from the Caravan and providing even more pathways for students to pursue higher education.
Lynwood Unified is proud to partner with NCRF to provide these invaluable opportunities for our students, helping them take significant strides toward their future college and career goals.
