Lynwood High School has earned Gold recognition on the College Board Advanced Placement (AP) School Honor Roll for its exceptional efforts in expanding access to AP courses and promoting college readiness among its Class of 2024.
The AP School Honor Roll offers four levels of distinction: Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum. Lynwood High, which earned Bronze status in 2023, significantly improved its AP offerings, with 2024 graduating seniors achieving new heights:
- 70% of students took at least one AP exam while in high school;
- 35% earned college credit by scoring a 3 or higher on an AP exam; and
- 10% optimized their college readiness by taking 5 or more AP exams, including at least one during their freshman or sophomore year.
Lynwood High has also been recognized with the 2024 AP Access Award for its dedication to providing access to AP courses for all students, especially those from underrepresented populations.
Research shows that students taking AP courses and exams are more likely to attend college and graduate on time, while those entering a four-year university with AP credit accelerate their path to graduation. Taking AP coursework also improves confidence, provides early exposure to college-level work and contributes to a college-going school culture.
Lynwood Unified is committed to ensuring all students achieve academic and personal success and have equitable access to higher education opportunities. We are proud to have a dedicated team at Lynwood High School – including teachers, counselors, administrators and parents – committed to prioritizing AP access for all students. The school community eagerly anticipates the Knights’ continued progress toward achieving Platinum status.
