Lynwood Unified honored the Lunar New Year – one of the most important festivals of the year in many cultures across Asia – with a community celebration exploring the Year of the Dragon on February 15.
Organized by the District’s Equity, Access, and Instructional Services Department, the celebration featured a live performance of The Lion Dance by the Wushu Shaolin Entertainment Group. Students and families were able to get a deeper understanding of the history through activities such as arts and crafts and eating a Good Fortune meal.
Lynwood Unified’s commemoration of the Lunar New Year, which was celebrated February 10-24 this year, showcases its commitment to recognizing the beauty and experiences of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders within Lynwood’s diverse community.
