In recent weeks, Lynwood Unified School District personnel have engaged in meetings with architects, construction managers and department heads to further discuss design details for the many specialty classrooms that will be offered to students at the Lynwood High School Imperial Campus following reconstruction.
These spaces include career technical education classrooms (medical, art, culinary); science labs; and special education centers. Details regarding operational and programmatic requirements have been further solidified with the District.
Lynwood Unified held a kick-off meeting to review details regarding the design and development of the school’s baseball and softball fields, which will undergo several updates.
In anticipation of the upcoming project stages involving specialized services and vendors – such as testing labs, inspections, controls, fencing and lighting – the District's legal team, Simplar, procurement consultants, and Huckabee, the construction management company, have been diligently engaged in preparing for the pre-qualification process to facilitate the smooth transition into the demolition and construction phases.
Additionally, the District is finalizing the current demolition bid package, which is set to be completed before the end of the summer. The demolition of Building G and installation of utilities is set to be completed by early 2024 and will include the following: fire lane rerouting, and relocation of gas, water, sewer and low voltage utilities. Deep soil mixing will commence after the demolition and utility relocations are complete.
The construction timeline is a fluid representation of current developments and is subject to change as District leaders, personnel and partners work diligently to ensure the quality of the project is maintained.
