Lynwood Unified Hosts the National Academies of Science, Engineering and Medicine Visit

Lynwood Unified School District is hosting the Committee on Equity in Pre-K-12 Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) Education from the National Academies of Science, Engineering and Medicine for a two-day regional expert consultation from Sept 27-28.

Parents, teachers, administrators and several organizations across the District will have the opportunity to speak to the committee about recent developments, new ideas and innovative practices that are promoting success for STEM students at all levels.

Lynwood Unified is proud to provide a variety of opportunities for STEM students, including Project Lead the Way, career technical education programs and a partnership with Cal-Apps that provides after-school programs such as makerspace courses.

Microsoft experts have continued working with teachers to help expand their curriculum to include computer science courses and programs for students.

Over the course of a decade, Lynwood Unified has provided students with a diverse selection of STEM curriculum and activities. With the help of innovative leadership and community support, more students at Lynwood Unified are continuing to embrace world-changing ideas and practices. 

The National Academies is a nonprofit organization that is dedicated to shaping an innovative world through STEM. Their K-12 Equity in STEM system ensures that students of all backgrounds and levels have access to quality courses and programs and lead them toward success.
