TELECONFERENCING
The meeting utilized teleconferencing in accordance with safe social distancing practices. The meeting was also streamed to YouTube. Public comment was available through email and voice recording prior to the meeting.
STUDENT REPORTS
Students of the District’s high schools and Lynwood Community Adult School provided updates. Each school continues to focus on college and career support and recently hosted events from Compton College and Cerritos College that discussed admissions, financial aid and other helpful topics. Vista also held a Youth Empowerment Virtual Conference that aimed to increase college access and push for FAFSA applicants. Lynwood High School hosted virtual parent meetings for each grade which strengthen community relations and provides parents with support and resources to inspire success for their children. Lynwood Community Adult School kicked off its virtual Student Award Ceremony to celebrate achievement.
EMERGENCY RESOLUTION
The Board passed an emergency resolution for repair and replacement of facilities to enable a timely transition of moving Lynwood High School to the Lynwood Middle School campus for the 2021-22 school year. Independent structural engineers hired by the District submitted preliminary findings that the G Building at Lynwood High School does not meet safety and engineering standards of use. The resolution allows for a quick transition to a new campus and allows for further inspection and evaluation of the LHS campus as it undergoes improvements.
LYNWOOD HIGH SCHOOL RELOCATION INFORMATION SESSIONS
The District is hosting virtual information sessions to communicate plans to the community and receive feedback. The meetings feature Board members, administrators and educators, and are open to anyone in the public. The next meetings will be held on Feb. 16 at 9 a.m. and 6 p.m.
DISTRICT FACILITIES TO BE USED FOR COVID-19 VACCINATION
A Memorandum of Understanding between LUSD and St. John’s Well Child and Family Center will provide COVID-19 vaccination services at District facilities beginning this month. The District has been working to provide more access to the vaccine and testing to the Lynwood community. The City of Lynwood is administering free testing this week at Yvonne Burke John-D Ham Park.
LYNWOOD COALITION
The District has formed a Lynwood Coalition alongside community groups that include The City of Lynwood, The Sherriff’s Department, Greater Emmanuel Temple Church, Reformed Church of Los Angeles, Rotary Club of Lynwood and St. Francis Medical Center. The group meets with the mission of collaborating to improve community communication and support.

The District is honoring Black History month with curriculum, celebrations and community events. Virtual events include:

FACILITIES
Lynwood Unified continues to improve facilities at school sites through Measure K and N projects. The Board approved a request to enter service agreements on structural improvement projects throughout the District.
