TELECONFERENCING
The meeting utilized teleconferencing in accordance with safe social distancing practices. The meeting was also streamed to Facebook Live. Public comment was available through email and voice recording prior to the meeting.
STUDENT REPORTS
Students of Lynwood, Firebaugh, Pathway, and Vista high schools provided virtual updates on recent happenings at their schools. College and Career centers are extending assistance to students, and recently welcomed a representative from the University of California, Berkeley, to share important information about access to higher education. Student-athletes were recently allowed to begin training on campus while following social distancing guidelines. In the coming weeks, exceptional scholars will be honored through a Student Recognition Drive-Through event.
FACILITIES UPDATE
Chief Business Official Gregory Fromm provided an exciting update on the Lynwood High School building construction project, which began the week of October 5. The project will include the removal of plaster soffit for an improved structure, and is ahead of the original timeline that estimated completion by the end of November.
DISTRICT RECEIVES MORE THAN $2 MILLION IN GRANTS
The District has been the recent recipient of several grants that total more than $2 million and will improve campus safety and student resources. Grants from COPS STOP, STOP School Violence Prevention, and STOP Threat Assessment Team, will provide new video surveillance equipment, tactical First Aid kits, and provide security staff with updated training for enhanced safety. In addition, LUSD has been awarded a $600,000 grant for the expansion of CTE facilities for students.

GRADING RESOLUTION
The District presented a grading resolution currently in the works that is receiving input from teachers, administrators, and parents, and will better serve all students. It will be reintroduced in the coming months.
INDIGENOUS LAND RESOLUTION
Lynwood Unified is working with representatives of the Tonga tribe, community leaders, and the Lynwood Youth for Radical Change to introduce a resolution of a land acknowledgment as well as an enhanced cultural studies curriculum.
