BUDGET UPDATE

The Board of Education adopted its 2020-21 budget based on Gov. Gavin Newsom's May revise. The adopted budget has a 10% reduction of LCFF Funding which results in a projected $16.1 million loss in revenue for the 20-21 fiscal year.  With the adoption of the 2020-21 budget, the board is committed to maintaining fiscal solvency and the state required reserve levels. The District will be providing a budget revision within 45 days after the state official adopts the state budget.

LYNWOOD HIGH SCHOOL BUILDING IMPROVEMENTS

Lynwood Unified School District held an emergency board meeting on June 24 to discuss a plan of action for improving the 5000 building under repair at Lynwood High School. The Board determined that the District will hire independent structural engineers to assess the building and the rest of the school to ensure structural integrity and safety. Lynwood High has been visited by the Department of State Architecture and independent inspectors.

“We will continue to pursue the very best improvements to our building structure that ensure a safe environment for students and staff,” LUSD Superintendent Gudiel R. Crosthwaite said. “We’re committed to strengthening our campus and creating a new standard of excellence at LHS.”
