Distance Learning Update 04.28.20


Lynwood Unified Community,

We continue to serve the community and thrive in distance learning through hard work and collaboration. Thank you for helping us meet the challenge of this. 
 
Student Learning is now providing devices during scheduled times.year and lead the way for our students.
Here is an update of some of our collective accomplishments:
  • More than 6,600 Chromebook laptops have been distributed thus far. Following our district-wide distribution at Lynwood High School, each school.

  • Technical support is in place for staff and community through our District Learning Support website. Social and emotional support is offered through the Student Services Hotline.

  • Student grading will be revised to focus on empathy and rewarding the distance learning effort of students during challenging times.
Meal Programs
  • More than 200,000 meals have been served to families through our pick-up service.
    Our food pantry is on track to serve around 1,000 families through June.

Staff Professional Development
  • Weekly webinars, a digital learning notebook, 1:1 coaching sessions, and a digital Learning YouTube channel are offered to staff by our digital coaching team.

Community Outreach
  • The Lynwood Partners Educational Foundation (LPEF) has raised more than 35K in emergency relief funds for families in need.

  • District staff members Audrey Casas and Jeff Ballinger are leading separate fundraising efforts to provide food and essential needs.

  • The Early Childhood Education Department, along with eight of our elementary schools, have held car parades throughout the city to show love and support for our neighbors.
